If you are into the real life dishonest devious tricks that big businesses will stoop to in order to perpetrate fraud on the American public, you will certainly love Puncture the movie. It exposes the Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), that forced every citizen to spend more for health care than was required. They did this just so that the already deep pockets of these mega sized corporations could get even deeper.
The movie Puncture is much more than that however, it also digs deep into the working and interpersonal relationship of two people that had no business being partners. They also happen to be the good guys by the way, if you can believe that.
The roles we are speaking about are the attorneys Mike Weiss and Paul Danziger. They are played by Chris Evans and Mark Kassen respectively. A footnote on Chris Evans, he is also starring in the soon to be realized Captain America movie.
Mark also co-directed the flick with his brother Adam. The film was written by Chris Lopata, who did an excellent job of taking almost two different types of story-lines, and putting them together in a fashion that works exceptionally well.
Back in the 1990,s, there was an inventor named Jeffrey Dancort, who created a new, improved and much safer type of syringe for doctors and nurses to use. It was the height of the HIV and AIDs scare that was sweeping across the entire world.
One of the ways that you could catch these diseases, which at the time were certain death sentences, was by having somebody's blood that had the diseases, injected into your body. It was very easy for health care personnel at the time to accidently stick themselves with a needle after they gave a shot to somebody.
In fact, quite a few of them actually caught the diseases and died precisely because of this type of mishap. When the new syringe was tested in a hospital, the doctors and nurses were ecstatic with its vastly improved safety features, as compared to a conventional syringe.
This is where the storyline starts to get really interesting, and the role that the (GPOs) played in American society begins to be revealed. You would think that if you invented a better product that would save lives, all of the hospitals would want to use, especially sense it was their own employees lives that they were saving.
What happened was that this organization kept the syringe out of the hospitals completely, and not only cost people their lives, but drastically increased the medical expenses for all of the people who were residing in the country.
The movie Puncture shows a side of American business that all citizens of the country should be ashamed of. If you like real life courtroom street fights that pit the weak against the powerful, then you will more than likely thoroughly enjoy this film. It has some wild and unexpected scenes, which will keep your eyes glued to the big screen, until the movie reaches its implausible conclusion.
