There are many motion picture fans out there that are really are fond of seeing the little guy put it to the big guy. What those enthusiasts enjoy even more than that, is a true real life story that they can relate to where this happens. If you find yourself in that category of movie enthusiast, then you should really like Puncture the movie.
It is an actual part of American history that affected every single citizen of the country. Thankfully, it was brought to light in this epic legal struggle that benefited all of us greatly. Jeffrey Dancort's was an inventor, who came up with a new and much safer way for syringes to function. In the 1990's, AIDs and the HIV virus where just becoming to be well known in the medical community.
One of the ways you could get it was by getting somebody else's blood that had it, injected into your body. For this reason, doctors and nurses at the time where petrified of sticking themselves with a needle, while they were giving a shot. Mr. Dancort's new syringe, made this process much safer and easier to accomplish.
So, you would think that every hospital in the country would immediately start using it, so did he. But, what he quickly discovered was that there was a company called the Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), which made it impossible for him to sell his invention to the hospitals.
At this point, he hired a couple of attorneys, named Paul Danziger, who is played in the movie by Mark Kassen, who also happens to be a co-director of the film with his brother Adam. The other attorneys name is Mike Weiss, who is played by Chris Evans, who just so happens to be also starring in the new Captain America film.
The writer of the Puncture Movie, did an excellent job of researching and depicting very accurately all of the legal actions. His interpretation of the lawyers who fought the case, was a little bit more liberal however.
In the movie, just as in real life, they were both almost exact opposites, with the possible exception of their will to win the case. One of them, was an organized meticulous individual like you would expect a typical attorney to be. The other one, was a drug addict on cocaine that often acted irrationally like drug addicts do.
Much of the movie is based on the personal relationship, and the battles that they have with each other. Whenever you have two people that have such radically different personalities and beliefs, it is sure to cause a great deal of tension and stress in the relationship.
The Puncture movie is not for everybody, but if you like something that does not have to have car chases and gun battles in it to be considered a good movie, then you should sincerely recognize the value of this film. It might be a little too much for small children, but most other fans should get a kick out of it.
